Sergio Barila, Bacca's agent, confirmed last month that the Merseysiders were interested in getting the player's signature, while The Telegraph added Manchester United were also closely monitoring a potential move.
It soon emerged, however, that Serie A giants AC Milan and Roma were also ready to battle for Bacca's services, after he attracted their attentions during his impressive La Liga campaign, scoring 20 goals in 37 appearances.
Milan's interest in the player was stepped up after their first choice for a signing, Jackson Martinez, signed with Atletico Madrid instead.
On 28 June Bacca's agent revealed the Colombian had agreed personal terms to join Milan – with the clubs yet to reach an agreement.
"I can confirm that Milan and the player reached an agreement." He remained coy over the length of the contract, adding: "Carlos chose what is best for his future, so it's only natural he is happy. How long is the deal for? You'd best ask the Rossoneri that," Barila told MilanNews.it, as reported by the Daily Mail.
Sevilla subsequently gave some hopes to other suitors by insisting the only way Bacca would join Milan was for them to pay his full €30m (£21.3m) release clause.
