A man was arrested on
a charge of assault after allegedly kicking his girlfriend in the abdomen in
order to cause her to miscarry her unborn baby, prosecutors in the United
Kingdom said. Now, 20-year-old Simon Easterbrook of Devon, has been sentenced
to serve 21 months in prison after being convicted of assault. The Exeter Crown
Court heard that Easterbrook was furious when his girlfriend, who was 18 weeks
pregnant, broke off their relationship. In revenge, he went to her home and
destroyed all her clothes with bleach. He then punched and kicked her
repeatedly in the abdomen while shouting that she doesn’t deserve to have his baby.
As she laid curled up on the kitchen floor, Easterbrook pulled a knife from his
pocket and stabbed her in the arm. After the attack, Easterbrook ran home and
told his mother that he is in trouble. Easterbrook pleaded guilty to causing
bodily harm, criminal damage and possessing a small amount of cannabis.
